He is also very interested in caring for children and provides chiropractic for infants and toddlers, as well as older children. He is adept at gentle, low force adjustments which are especially appreciated by children. Dr. Bishop also sits on the Punxsutawney Area School District's Health and Wellness Committee.

Dr. Rick Bishop attended Sherman College of Chiropractic in Spartanburg, South Carolina where he received his Doctorate of Chiropractic degree in December 2001. Prior to attending Sherman College, he attended the University of Pittsburgh where he received his B.S. in Natural Sciences. While at PITT, he was a member of their 1994 Big East Conference Championship baseball team and earned the Bell Atlantic Scholar Athlete award.

Dr. Bishop's chiropractic story began before he was even born. For 10 years his parents tried to have a child and were unsuccessful. But soon after his mother received a pelvic adjustment, they finally received the news that they had been longing to hear for years. The news that his mother was indeed pregnant. Dr. Bishop received his first adjustment just days after he was born. He has been a life-long patient of chiropractic care and now is offering the same care to patients that he has been receiving his entire life.

Dr. Bishop is a strong believer in the philosophy of "The power that made the body heals the body." And with that belief he educates his patients on the benefits of living a "drug-free" lifestyle in conjunction with chiropractic care. Dr. Bishop is active in his community as a member of the Punxsutawney Chamber of Commerce and is also a member of the Christian Chiropractic Association. He also enjoys speaking by spreading the truths and dispelling the myths about chiropractic care.

Dr. Bishop is a Certified Decompression Therapy Practitioner, having completed numerous hours of course instruction and passed the requisite examination.  He is one of only a few chiropractors in our region with this distinction.

Dr. Bishop, his wife Julie and their daughter Carsyn live in Punxsutawney. He and his wife are both active in their church, where Dr. Bishop is a drummer. He still continues to play baseball and also enjoys traveling and spending time with friends, family and his dogs Jack and Buddy.
